Sir, It is many weeks since the road work on the Jaladarshini stretch necessitated the closure of the road to vehicular traffic. Therefore, all traffic towards Hunsur has to take a de-tour from Kalamandira to the left of the Kukkarahalli Lake, connect to the Open Air Theatre road,  to join the main road towards Hunsur side. As a regular commuter on this stretch, I am appalled to see the volume of traffic on this stretch — heavy vehicles, buses, trucks, tempos, cars of all sizes, autos, scooters, cycles. But nowhere have I seen a Traffic Police posted to monitor the movement, flow and speed of traffic! Have the authorities decided that traffic can manage itself. Or the manpower diverted for other duties? Traffic Police are there on stipulated days and time to check two-wheelers for their violations. But is it not to be expected that when there is a deviation of routes, there can be chaos too? The Railway level-crossing on Bogadi Road, the Open Air Theatre Road junction are important points that need traffic control.
