stop choking the trees

Sir, In the name of beautifying the city, the authorities are literally choking the full-grown trees to death. The footpath on KRS road (near Ramakrishna Ashram) is being poured with concrete in order to create a platform to lay interlocking tiles on the footpath. Pouring of concrete or tar till the root of the tree will deprive the trees of their share of water from rain resources. Some time back the authorities had taken some measures such as putting jelly for a diameter of about 3 feet around the tree which was a very good move. Unfortunately such good things are not carried forward and made mandatory in all places wherever required. Looks like there has been no supervision on the work being done at this place. Hence the workers would have done the job according to their whims and fancies. Will the authorities concerned look into this and take corrective measures before it is too late?.
