Sir,

l would like to share my bitter experience at a building on Ramavilas Road in city recently. I got into the lift to go to the second floor and pressed the ‘on’ button. Within a few seconds the power went off and I was stuck inside the lift. There was no emergency alarm or a light or a liftman for help. It was pitch dark and I had to call my driver over cellphone who was some distance away. He rushed to the spot and alerted the security personnel standing away from the building. Only then they opened the lift door and managed to bring it to lower level so that I could jump to the ground floor. There was neither generator back up nor automatic landing facility. It appeared to be an outdated lift. My worry is such callousness on the part of building owners and managers is unpardonable. Let them install safety measures at the earliest so that people don’t experience the same again.
