Sir, The sudden and sad demise of Lalitha Rao, who wrote occasionally in SOM, has brought a pall of gloom on many of us who knew her well. Her gentle nature reflected in her pleasant conduct and in her writings. Her writings always stirred pleasant memories in the mind of the reader of beautiful days gone by. When I came to know that the Raos were going to make Mysuru their home after DSR Rao’s long and successful stint as Architect in Muscat, I was so happy and sure that the city of Mysuru would be enriched with such distinguished people. Lalitha was a columnist in a Muscat daily too and just as I had expected, her writings started to appear in SOM. Though born into a distinguished family and married into another family that’s equally distinguished, Lalitha looked upon all with equal affection and respect. Her active participation in the Book Club activities enriched the literary scene in Mysuru. In my small circle of friends I have lost a beautiful person with whom I had always wished to spend my free time discussing authors and their works.
