I wish to draw the urgent attention of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and the Traffic Police to the rising chaos on the High Tension Double Road in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage, near the water tank.
Recently, the MCC took the right step by clearing street vendors who had encroached upon the High Tension Road Park with permanent cement floorings. However, this has inadvertently created a new, bigger problem.
The displaced vendors have now set up shop right on the side of the main Double Road. As a result, the entire roadside has turned into a chaotic marketplace.
The area is heavily crowded every evening, attracting not only the regular vendors but also numerous small-time sellers, such as balloon vendors, who block the pathways. With a large number of people gathering on the busy road, pedestrian safety has been compromised and traffic movement has become a nightmare.
While the initiative to free up the park was necessary, shifting the chaos directly onto a major road is not a viable solution. The authorities must intervene immediately to find a designated, organised vending zone for these sellers so that both their livelihoods are protected and the residents are spared from this daily traffic hazard.
