Masti Venkatesha Iyengar's contribution for Kannada literature has been enormous. His power of getting into the dialects of various geographies of Karnataka, keeping the language simple for the lay man to understand, but yet ensure the impact of the message is not diluted, is a strength which every writer will not have.
One of his most popular works is 'Kaakanakote', a play about the tribes of H.D. Kote, who are under extinction now. The forest in and around the Heggadadevana Kote of Mysuru district is called Kakana Kote.
