The coconut tree climbing machine was a great hit at Naganahalli Research Station today with many farmers enquiring about it and also trying it. With traditional coconut tree climbers becoming extinct, this machine is gaining popularity to pluck coconuts. The machine, costing Rs. 1,500 per piece, takes only 1-2 minutes to climb a 90-ft tree when compared to four to 10 minutes taken by a coconut climber.
