Mysureans witness Micro Lunar Eclipse

The much-awaited, amazing, astronomical feast is eventually done ! People were very eager to know whether natural calamities and catastrophes may occur due to this event. Fortunately, it did not happen! The sky was absolutely clear in the beginning, say at around 9.45 pm, but it troubled the sky-gazers and astronomers throughout the night creating bad weather In spite of this condition, from Mysuru the lunar eclipse was perceptible with utmost difficulty. The partial phase of the eclipse started at 11.54 pm, total phase was from 1 am to 2.43 am, where the duration was 1 h 43 minutes. The complete duration of the eclipse was 6 h 14 min. In 2019, Indians will be privileged to witness two lunar eclipses and one solar eclipse. The Moon, which was at a distance of 4,12,000 kms from the Earth last night, appeared copper red in colour, says Dr. S.A. Mohan Krishna, Amateur Astronomer.
