Mysuru-born Harvard Professor Gita Gopinath, popularly called as GG, has been appointed as the Chief Economist at International Monetary Fund (IMF). She is the first Indian woman to occupy the coveted post and the second Indian after former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan.
