This has reference to the news item “Tax defaulters warned of property seizure” (SOM dated Sept.2). While it is gratifying to note that MCC is taking steps to recover the house tax by issuing notices to defaulters, it has also issued notice to the tax paid already. I am a prompt tax-payer for the last 30 years. I have paid my house tax for the year on 21.5.2020 and I hold the challan and tax receipt issued by MCC. I am of the opinion that MCC does not have a system of posting credits to the tax-payers account after immediately the tax is paid by the party.
