kukkarahalli lake: garbage con

Sir,

I am writing to bring to your attention the rampant disposal of garbage occurring at Kukkarahalli Lake. This is majorly taking place in the area on Gangothri campus road, where the fencing for Kukkarahalli starts and though it isn’t visible from the lake, the garbage is prominently visible from campus road.

The garbage consists primarily of single-use plastics, which is extremely concerning. This risks harming the already fragile ecosystem of the lake and is slowly contributing to the creation of a black spot within the lake.

The garbage disposal is also partially due to gaps between the footpath and the fencing, which are creating space for people to come and throw garbage shamelessly.

I have written to the University of Mysore, under whose management Kukkarahalli Lake is, but received no reply. I request the authorities to take action to prevent future garbage disposal around the pristine lake area.
