kudos to police for anti-rowdy

Sir,

Two shocking murders have rocked Mysuru in recent months. In May, a rowdy-sheeter named Karthik was brutally killed. Now, in October 2025, his associate Venkatesh, known as ‘Gilki Venkatesh,’ has met the same fate — murdered in broad daylight, in full view of tourists and residents alike.

Such incidents expose a grave lapse in intelligence and policing. When killings occur so brazenly, it instils fear among citizens and tarnishes Mysuru’s image as a safe and peaceful city.

To curb this rising lawlessness, it is commendable that the Police Department has reactivated the dedicated Anti-Rowdy Squad and initiated stringent action against criminal elements. Public safety must remain the foremost priority.

Equally alarming is the disturbing trend of individuals glorifying these rowdies on social media, portraying them as local heroes.

This not only fuels criminal behaviour but also misguides the youths. Firm measures must be taken to clamp down on such online glorification of crime and criminals.
