is train journey becoming unsa

Sir, I was shell-shocked reading the news item titled ‘Elderly city lady sedated, robbed in train’ (SOM dated Aug. 3). If this be the fate of a learned and bold citizen, can’t imagine the plight of a common man. I knew Dr. Manik Bengeri as SOM columnist and through my brother who is her family friend.   Had it not been for the known cab driver at the destination and his timely action, the result would have been more horrible. It is an alarm to all senior citizens, especially ladies travelling alone, to be more alert during the journey. At the same time, I appeal to the Railways to put a Police Constable in each bogie besides frequent checks by Railway TTs to ensure safe journey of travellers.
