Heavy rain swells Harangi Dam 4,000 cusecs released

Heavy rain in Kodagu has sharply increased the inflow into the Harangi Dam. The India Meteorological Department has forecast more downpours, likely pushing water levels even higher. With the dam nearing full capacity, Cauvery Neeravari Nigama Limited authorities released 4,000 cusecs of water into the river at 11.30 am today. Residents downstream have been advised to stay vigilant, safeguard belongings, move livestock and shift to safer areas to minimise flood risks.
