While efforts are on across the world to purify sewage water so that it can be used for potable purposes to ease the shortage of pure water, it is shocking to find in Mysuru that sewage water is being directly drained into a drinking water purifying unit. A Star of Mysore reader has sent this photograph where some house sewage and septic tank cleaners dumping the dirty water into a stream that supplies water to a drinking water production unit at Hebbal Industrial Area near Hindustan Petroleum Corporation. The reader says, if one goes further the stream, there is a drinking water production unit.
