The decor of a home can have a very strong influence on the emotions of its inhabitants. Hence, decorate with light, sunny colours such as yellows and oranges. Creating a harmonious space and environment that exudes harmony is one of the key dynamics behind this age-old practice. It’s no surprise that we would most often be faced with bad energy due to our immediate surrounding and environment around our building. These may give rise to ill-fortune in the form of, relationship, wealth, legal entanglement or illness. Feng Shui teaches us that our surroundings affect us and that we, in turn, are reflections of our surroundings. Since everything has energy field and is, in a sense, “alive”, everything is connected, and everything is always changing, it makes sense that we are greatly influenced by the things and people around us. The energy in our bodies, the energy of our minds and the energy of our surroundings have a deep and profound impact on our lives. Accumulating clutter and waste, ignoring your bed orientation and directions, unknowingly introducing artefacts, plants and decor which are negative Feng Shui, disturbing the energy of the premises. The most important principle in Feng Shui is to have at least one solid wall in a room as this is said to signify the abode where the positive spirit of the room stays and accumulates and is the foundation to the type of energy existing. Interaction of the one solid wall which can be a feature wall with the rest of the home is vital in enhancing the mood of the home. Most importantly having a wall with a happy picture of the whole family in the living room on such a prominent wall is a very powerful Feng Shui enhancer which simulates a feel of togetherness and safety to the whole family. Some spaces also have a negative influence on the emotional balance of the occupants and do cause a lot of discomfort too.
