Vaachana-Vyaakhyaana and Vastupradarshana from Nov. 25 to Dec. 9

PARAMPARE, known for arranging lectures and presenting vaachana-vyaakhyaana of classical works in Kannada and Samskruta is now presenting Aadikavi Pampa’s Aadipurana from Nov. 25 to Dec. 9 at Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road  under the able guidance of well-known Kannada scholar Dr. T. V. Venkatachala Shastri. Parampare had conducted vaachana-vyaakhyaana of Pampa’s another champu kaavya, Vikramarjuna Vijayam in 2008. A grand inauguration is arranged on 25th (Saturday) at Nadabrahma at 6 pm.  Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will inaugurate the vaachana-vyaakhyaana series. Swasti Sri Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji of Shravanabelagola will grace the occasion. International resource person in Jainology Prof. Hampa Nagarajaiah will deliver a special lecture. K. V. Murthy, industrialist and patron of fine arts, will inaugurate the exhibition. The exhibition will unravel rare collection of various editions of Adikavi Pampa’s Aadipurana including the first version, photos of the editors, illustrations from Mahapurana, images of the Tirthankaras along with the Dhyana shlokas and illustrious works that reflect the tenets of Jainism. This exhibition, conceptualised by Prof. Shivaji Jois and Prof. H.G. Krishnappa, will be a testimony to the untiring efforts of the duo. Programme schedule Nov.26 (Sunday - 10.30 am): Sri Bhuvanakeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji of Kanakagiri will grace the occasion. Jina bhajans will be presented by Vidushi Dharitri Anandarao. A lecture on Pampa, Aadipurana and Jainism will be delivered by Prof. Shubhachandra, retired Professor of Jainology, Mysore University. He has a reputation of teaching Kannada language and Praacheena kaavyas to several scholars and students from various countries. Nov. 27 (Monday - 5.45 pm): Jina bhajans by Trilok Jain Mandali of Hassan who secured first place in Jina competition recently. 6.30pm: Vaachana-vyaakhyaana Poorvabhavavali-1: Introduction, Mahabalam, Lalithangam. Saraswathi Stotras of Sri Vrishabha Tirthankara; Introduction to the verse and the underlying poetic principles; description of Jambudweepa, the narrative of Mahabala Kumara, Swayambuddha’s discourse and Mahabala’s renunciation of the world; Lalithanga’s narrative. Vaachana will be rendered by Vid. Ganapathi Padyaana of Bantawala; Vyaakhyaana by Dr. B. P. Sampathkumar of Ujire. Dr. B.P. Sampathkumar heads the Department of Kannada in Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara College, Ujire. A Master’s Degree holder with first rank in Kannada from Karnatak University, Dharwad and a Ph.D from the University of Mumbai, Dr. Sampathkumar has organised several workshops related to Prakrit and literary studies and national seminars.
