Mysuru: A 19-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed with a knife by his lover’s brother at the girl’s house in Bannimantap last night and the youth succumbed to injuries at a private hospital in the wee hours of today.

The deceased youth is Afreed Ahmed (19), a painter by profession and a resident of Sunnadakeri in city. The accused is 18-year-old Razig Khan.

Police sources said that the girl is a minor and was staying at Sunnadakeri earlier. When the girl’s family came to know about her love affair, the family shifted to Bannimantap.

Yesterday at about 11.45 pm, Afreed had come to the girl’s house and when Razig came to know about it, he confronted Afreed at the home and hit him with a rolling pin. He then picked up a knife and allegedly stabbed Afreed on his chest & abdomen.

Afreed, who fled from the house, collapsed behind a private hospital in Bannimantap. Meanwhile, the girl called Afreed’s mother and informed her about the incident.

Soon Afreed’s mother and other family members rushed to the spot, took him to a private hospital and later shifted him to another private hospital where Afreed succumbed to injuries.

Narasimharaja (NR) Police, who reached the hospital, registered a case and shifted Afreed’s body to MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem. Police also took accused Razig into custody for questioning.
