Mysuru: Former CM Siddaramaiah has questioned the State Government’s decision to appoint three Ministers a day to oversee Mysuru Dasara, saying there was no need for such an arrangement.
His remarks mark his first public criticism of the functioning of the government led by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Speaking to reporters yesterday, Siddaramaiah said none of the appointed Ministers had turned up for supervision during the festival.
“The Government appointed three Ministers a day for Dasara oversight. However, none of the Ministers came. I do not know why they were appointed as supervisors in the first place,” he said.
In a pointed remark, he added: “This is not my Government; it is a different Government. It is a decision left to the discretion of the CM. What can I do?”
Earlier in the day, Siddaramaiah visited Suttur Mutt at the foot of Chamundi Hill and sought the blessings of Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji. He was accompanied by his son and Mysuru District Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah.
S.P. Manjunath, Secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, and Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath received him. Siddaramaiah later had lunch at the Mutt before leaving.
