Mysuru: Continuous heavy rains in Kodagu district has led to the sudden rise of water levels at Krishna Raja Sagar, Harangi and Kabini dams. Many places in Kodagu district have been inundated as a result of five days of heavy rains. Today morning, however, the rains have given a break in Kodagu. Though it is not raining continuously, it is raining intermittently in several parts of the district.
Thanks to copious rains, the main catchment area of River Cauvery, the Harangi Dam in Somwarpet Taluk near Kushalnagar is nearing its maximum level. Water will be released to the Krishna Raja Sagar Dam once the Harangi reservoir is full. Today at 10 am, the level at Harangi was recorded at 2853.48 ft. while the maximum level is 2859.00 ft. There is an inflow of 4,944 cusecs and the dam has stored 6 tmcft (thousand million cubic feet) of water so far.
