Mysore/Mysuru: Members of the Hindu Janajagruthi Samiti have submitted a memorandum to the State Government through the Mysuru Deputy Commissioner, demanding a strict action against those allegedly targeting Hindus under the guise of community-led campaigns across various districts.
Samiti coordinator Sharath Kumar alleged that recent campaigns have led to violent attacks on Hindus in several parts of the State. “Those responsible for these assaults, including office-bearers of organisations inciting violence against the Hindu community, must face legal consequences,” he said.
The Samiti urged the Government to invoke anti-terror laws against individuals who deliberately incite riots during Hindu festivals. They also demanded that damages caused to public and private property by attackers be recovered from the perpetrators.
Sharath Kumar further called for investigations into hate speech targeting Hindus and emphasised the need for preventive policing during upcoming festivals like Deepavali to ensure law and order is maintained.
Drawing parallels with communal unrest in States like Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, where the disturbing forces were dealt with an iron hand, the Samiti demanded that Karnataka must not follow same path.
They urged Police to implement security measures to prevent escalation.
Also present were Hindu Janajagruthi Samiti leaders Gopalakrishna, Siddalingaswamy, Shashikanth, Ashok Kapoor, Deepak, Nagendra, Nigin, Puttarachayya and Ambika from Sanatan Sanstha, along with representatives of other organisations.
