Mysuru: The Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute, Mysuru, had organised a Vigilance Awareness Week - 2017 from Oct.30 to Nov.4. During the valedictory, chief guest H. Shekhar Tekkannavar, DCP, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Mysuru, said that despite stringent laws to deal with corruption, it is up to the public as well as officials to take a call against corrupt practices as they are detrimental to development and progress of the nation. He further called upon the public to take all the measures to check incidences of corrupt practices by resorting various ways and means available at their disposal. He distributed prizes to the winners of the elocution and essay contests, which were conducted as a part of vigilance awareness week. Dr. V. Sivaprasad, Director - CSRTI, Mysuru, in his presidential address, elaborated upon various measures and norms introduced by the Central Vigilance Committee for bringing down the rate of corruption in public life. He stressed on inculcating the values of honesty and integrity in children at a very young age and bringing them up as a moral force in the society as they are the future of the country. Further, he emphasised on the need for creating awareness about the ill-effects of the corruptive practices which are detrimental to the progress of the country. He called upon the officials to be very alert in implementation of rules and regulations in day-to-day work and contribute towards the overall development of the country.
