Chess is a mind game. It improves memory and thinking ability. This game is gaining huge popularity day by day. Many players from Mysuru are winning medals in State and National level events and bringing laurels to the city. One among them is Dhatri Umesh, an upcoming 12-year-old chess champion from Mysuru.
She started playing chess at the age of 7. From then on, chess became her passion. In the span of five years, she has played over 150 tournaments, both at State and National level. She is two times runner-up in Karnataka State Chess Championships. She has emerged as a champion in the recent Karnataka State Schools Chess Championship-2019 which was held at Bishop Cottons School in Bengaluru.
