Several students who wrote the II PU examinations in city yesterday have complained that they received torn answer papers. This has made them apprehensive that they might face some problems in evaluation. The torn answer papers were distributed at Room No. 2 at the Mathrumandali Women’s PU College centre where Electronics and Computer Science exams were being conducted. Some students apparently wrote the exam in torn answer papers. When asked about the issue, College Principal Venkata Reddy clarified that a couple of answer papers were torn and they were withdrawn and new answer papers were distributed to the students. However, some students complained that the room examiner had asked them to sign on the torn answer papers and continue writing. Chief Exam Superintendent at Mathrumandali Women’s PU College said that on Mar. 9, the first day of the examinations, the centre received over 31 torn answer papers and on Mar. 10, the centre received 80 damaged papers. “All the damaged papers were withdrawn and new answer sheets were given to the student. No student was made to write in damaged papers,” she said. Deputy Director of Pre University Education, Jayaprakash said that there were chances of answer papers getting damaged while removing them from sealed bundles. “In such cases, the exam centre authorities can withdraw damaged answer papers and supply new ones. Students need not be apprehensive in such cases,” he said.
