Gundlupet: Three youths were killed when a car hit the bike they were triple riding in front of a Mosque on the National Highway at Begur yesterday. The deceased youths have been identified as Karthik (19), Mahadeva Prasad (20) and Diwakar (22).

The 3 youths were proceeding on the bike when the car proceeding from Mysuru towards Gundlupet rammed into the bike resulting in Karthik being killed on the spot. Mahadeva Prasad, who was rushed to a hospital in a serious condition, succumbed to injuries at the hospital yesterday while Diwakar, who had sustained leg fracture, was provided first-aid at Begur Community Health Centre and was later admitted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru, where he succumbed to injuries at 4 am today. Meanwhile, villagers, alleging that the ambulance did not arrive on time, staged a protest by keeping the body in the hospital premises. Taluk Health Officer (THO) Aleem Pasha, who reached the protest spot, was taken to task by the villagers.

They alleged that there are lack of doctors at Begur Community Health Centre & also no vehicles to shift the injured in emergency situations. Later, Police managed to convince the protesters, who called off the stir and the bodies were shifted to the mortuary.
