Kannur: Along with Cauvery Sankramana festival in Kodagu, Sankramana is also celebrated at Peralassery Sri Subrahmanya Temple in Kerala. It is located around 16 kms South of Kannur on the Kannur-Koothuparamba Road.
The presiding deity of Peralassery Temple is the serpent form of Lord Subrahmanya and inside the temple devotees can view many idols of snakes, mostly of king cobra. This majestic snake is considered to be holy and eggs are the main offering, known as ‘Mutta Oppikal’. It is popularly believed that this place of worship was built by Lord Rama himself.
