Mysuru: Don’t leave the keys of your two-wheeler in the vehicle after parking. Make it a point to take the keys lest your vehicle might be stolen with ease. This is the advice given by Devaraja Police who, on an average, find over 20 two-wheelers with the keys on while the owners go shopping or on other errands. According to Devaraja Inspector C. Thimmaraju, many two-wheeler owners either do not lock their vehicle handles after parking or leave the keys in the vehicle. “The road between K.R. Circle and Ayurveda Circle, Sayyaji Rao Road, Stone Building of K.R. Hospital, Shivarampet. D. Devaraja Urs Road and Dhanvanthri Road come under the Devaraja limits. On an average, we find over 20 vehicles parked on the roads with their keys,” he said. The Devaraja Police have deputed Home Guards on such roads who bring such vehicles to the Police station. “We keep the vehicles in our custody and return the vehicles to the owners after they submit the ownership documents,,” he said. Leaving keys on the vehicles and not locking the handles give a golden chance for the thieves to easily take away the vehicle. “Thieves lay in wait for such vehicles, especially in crowded areas and the moment they see a vehicle with the keys, they take away the vehicle,” Thimmaraju said.
