Mysore/Mysuru: An Orthopaedic Surgeon booked under a bribery case has been awarded four years imprisonment and imposed Rs. 50,000 fine, upon conviction, by the Third Additional Principal District and Sessions Court, also the Lokayukta Special Court.

Surgeon Dr. Puttaswamy had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 40,000 from the relative of complainant S.R. Devaraju, to perform a surgery at KR Hospital. On Apr. 12, 2017, Puttaswamy was receiving Rs. 26,000, when the now disbanded, Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) personnel had trapped him. ACB Inspector Shekar had submitted a charge sheet to the Court, after inquiring the case.
