Bengaluru: Senior IPS Officer T. Suneel Kumar took charge as the new Bengaluru City Police Commissioner replacing Praveen Sood on Monday. A 1989 batch IPS Officer, Suneel Kumar is a native of Andhra Pradesh. Suneel Kumar was earlier the Additional Director General of Police & Managing Director of the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation Ltd.
It is said that the State Government transferred Praveen Sood, who had taken charge on Jan.1 this year, as he had come under severe criticism from Kannada activists and writers over a Police case under section 153A of IPC against the activists for blacking Hindi signage at the Metro Stations, recently.
