Students participate in Crime Prevention Rally

Mysuru: Mysuru City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subramanyeswara Rao said that these days one should be careful about everything as the kind of crimes that happen is shocking where both the young and the old are becoming targets. He was speaking after inaugurating a programme at Good Shepherd Convent organised by the City Police as part of  ‘Crime Prevention Month,’ here recently. He said that women and children must be aware of their rights. He also highlighted about other issues related to crime like drugs, cyber crime and safety measures one should take to prevent and control crime and added that police was trying to see that people became aware of the enormity of the crime and its prevention. Later, he flagged off a rally in which students of St. Mary’s, St. Philomena’s High School, Savithri Convent, Good Shepherd Convent, Nizamia School, Farooquia High School and the public participated. The rally began from Good Shepherd Convent and passed through Church Circle, Ashoka Road, Nehru Circle, Irwin Road, B.N. Road and returned to the Convent. The Police Department is observing December month as Crime Prevention Month. On Dec. 19 and 20 essay writing and on the spot painting competition was held for schoolchildren and the Police Commissioner distributed prizes to the winners. DCPs N. Vishnuvardhana and Dr. Vikram Amathe, Devaraja ACP Rajashekar, Lashkar Police Inspector H.R. Vivekananda, Sub Inspector Pooja Hattarki, Corporators Suhail Baig and Ravindrakumara and Good Shepherd Convent’s Sister Bina were present.
