Mysore/Mysuru: In response to the publication of the letter titled “Stray dog menace in residential areas” in SOM dated Dec. 13, the MCC Veterinary Officer has clarified as follows:
“Mysuru City Corporation is conducting Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme to control dog menace in city. A Squad has been constituted to capture and release the dogs after sterilisation. This programme has been outsourced to ROTA, an NGO situated at Roopanagar, Mysuru. As per the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules 2001, one is not supposed to kill or relocate the dogs. Hence, the Corporation has adopted ABC programme to control dog menace, which is existing throughout the country.”
