Vijeendra representing India in Sri Lankan Open International Rating Chess Championships 2017 being held at YMBA Hall, Kurunegala near Colombo yesterday, won their first round matches respectively. Top-seed IM M.S. Thejkumar scored a good win over Sri Lanka's D.M. Dissanayaka while second seed Y.G. Vijayeendra scored a win against Sri Lanka's D.A. Thavinsa Arch. Both have secured 1 point each from their wins in the first round and are placed one and two in the rankings after round one.
