Mysore/Mysuru: It was a special day for specially-abled children as they made merry at the day-long Kids Carnival organised under the joint aegis of Mysore Heritage Round Table-109 and Mysore Heritage Ladies Circle-109 at Jayamma Govindegowda Kalyana Mantapa in Kuvempunagar here this morning.
Speaking after inaugurating the carnival, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar said that this was a wonderful event for specially-abled kids, which provides a perfect platform for exhibiting their talent. “I am also deeply impressed by the dress and costumes of the participant children. At a time when it seems that we have forgotten the lighter side of our life, these children have brought back the laughter once again.”
“There is no dearth of joy when children are around. It is important to note that our specially-abled children have achieved big in national and international events. The success of these children must be emulated,” she noted.
Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF) K. Paramesha said that it is important to organise such programmes for unearthing natural talent among children. Stressing on the need for building confidence among children and to encourage them in their area of interest, he said he would like to thank the specially- abled children, their parents and teachers for participating in this programme.
Shivakumar, Proprietor of Mahalakshmi Sweets, in his address, said that he was extremely moved to see specially-abled children mingling with their friends and participating in various activities.
More than 200 children from various special schools across the city took part in this event.
District Disabled Welfare Officer K.S. Raghavendra, Kalyana Mantapa Proprietor Arun Gowda, Diya Foundation Trustee Namrata Shenoy, Ladies Circle Area- 13 Chairperson Nagashree Nikhilesh, Kids Carnival Organising Chairman Tr. Siddesh, Secretary Tr. Vinayak, Treasurer Tr. Sharad and others were present.
