Mysuru: Former Minister and senior BJP leader S.A. Ramdas, who had launched an indefinite stir on Dec.14 seeking a permanent solution for the stench and health hazards caused from Excel Waste Treatment Plant at Vidyaranyapuram Sewage Farm, ended the stir on Saturday following an assurance from the Deputy Commissioner (DC) D. Randeep that the District Administration will take quick action to resolve the row. The DC explained Ramdas about the proceedings of the meeting that he held with the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials on Friday and also convinced Ramdas about the measures that will be taken to end the Excel Waste Treatment Plant stench, following which the BJP leader called off his stir. Later speaking, Ramdas said that the authorities should not allow dumping of Hospital waster in the Plant. Ramdas further demanded measures for growing grass in 100 acre area in Sewage Farm, revival of eight Waste Treatment Plants in city, soil cover for heaps of garbage and scientific disposal of animal waste, among others. Following an assurance from the DC that all his demands will be looked into, Ramdas called off stir accepting tender coconut from MP Pratap Simha. MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, former MLC D. Nadegowda, City BJP President Dr. B.H. Manjunath Deputy Mayor Rathna Lakshman, former Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa, Corporators B.V. Manjunath, M.K Shankar, Shivakumar and Vanitha Prasanna, leaders Noor Fathima, Vidya Urs, Jogi Manju and others were present.
