Mysuru: Hindustan First Grade College, J.P Nagar, had organised a Seminar on Goods and Service Tax (GST) under the title “One Nation, One Tax, One Month Young” at its premises recently. CA Vageesha Hedge, Certified faculty for GST by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, was the Resource Person. More than 200 students from various UG and PG Colleges in and around Mysuru attend the seminar. Principal Dr. K. Sailatha, Vice- Principal H. Chethan and Co- Coordinator V. Eshwar joined chief guest Vageesha Hedge in lighting the lamp. The seminar gave an insight into development of indirect taxes in India and also explained the taxation mechanism under old tax regime prior to VAT 2005, method of taxation under Value Added Taxes 2005, consequence of Inter State Sales/Purchases and their effects on Input Tax Credit. Further, it also enlightened the students about GST, Taxable Event – Supply of Goods/Service, CGST, SGST, IGST, Destination based consumption tax, supply chain, Threshold Exemption Under GST, Return Filing – Matching Concept etc. The seminar concluded with an interaction session.
