Fifteen-year-old Roshni Venkat has been selected to represent USA in Pan-American Junior Badminton Championships scheduled on July 22 in Brazil. Roshni will be playing in the Under-17 Singles category. She is the daughter of Raghu Venkateshwaran, an alumnus of NIE Mysuru and Lakshmi Venkateshwaran, who are currently residing in Bengaluru. The young shuttler started playing at the age of 7. Her professional training began at the age of 9. For the last 4 years, Roshni is being coached at ISports by Krishna Kumar who is an international doubles winner himself. In the last week of March, Roshni successfully qualified in the international trials held in Boston. As per norms, she was among the top 16 players to have received an invitation for participating in the trials.
