Government employees need not forego their holiday this second Saturday (tomorrow) as the State Government has clarified that Oct.13 will be a closed holiday. The govt. had earlier planned to declare second Saturday as a working day and give the holiday on the third Saturday. However,CM H.D. Kumaraswamy had suggested to cancel the off on Second Saturday Oct.13 and instead give it on Oct. 20. The rationale being - the holidays for Ayudha Pooja and Vijayadashami fall on Oct. 18 and 19 respectively. Given the same, many employees tend to take off on Saturday so that they get a four-day holiday at a stretch. However, now that the govt. has clarified that there will be no holiday on Oct. 20, tomorrow’s (Oct.13) Second Saturday will be the usual holiday.
