Mysuru: Strongly condemning the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu (TN), over a hundred farmers under the banner of Karnataka Sugarcane Growers Association staged a demonstration in front of the Cauvery CADA (Command Area Development Authority) office on Sayyaji Rao Road here on Friday. Alleging that the State Government was releasing water to TN instead of releasing water to dried up canals of Mysuru region, the farmers urged the Government to stop release of water to TN and come to their rescue. Raising slogans against the Government, the CM, District In- charge Minister and Water Resources Minster, the farmers questioned the real motive behind the release of water when the KRS Dam is now receiving little water and the State staring at another drought, with scanty rainfall over the past couple of months. Association President Kurubur Shanthakumar, office-bearers Attahalli Devaraj, Bhagyaraj, Siddesh, Shankar, Krishnegowda, Nagaraj and others took part.
