Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) Police continued their interrogation of ‘Hai Bengaluru’ Editor Ravi Belagere yesterday. Even as Ravi Belagere, is in Police custody, he is said to have made a call to journalist Sunil Heggaravalli, whom Ravi Belagere is said to have conspired to kill by hiring Supari killers. Belagara is said to have made the call to Heggaravalli through one Madhu, a former employee of ‘Hai Bengaluru’ at 9.40 pm. Belagere is said to have questioned Heggaravalli whether he (Sunil) had told Television channels about his (Sunil) affair with Yashomathi, who is said to be Belagere’s second wife. Sunil Heggaravalli is said to have replied to Belagere that he did not have to say anything as he was not in any way concerned about it, following which the call was cut off, it is learnt. Later speaking to press persons, Sunil Heggaravalli said that Ravi Belagere had made a threatening call to him even as he (Belagere) is in Police custody. Wondering why the Police had allowed Belagere to meet everyone and make calls, Heggaravalli said that he would lodge a complaint with the Subramanyanagar Police about the threat call made by Belagere. Meanwhile, the Police have found Belagere a tough-nut to crack over his alleged Supari contract to kill his former employee Sunil Heggaravalli. The CCB sleuths investigating the case have questioned Belagere’s second wife Yashomathi, who denied any connection with the alleged plan to kill Heggaravalli over a personal dispute between Belagere and  Heggaravalli. Police sources said that Belagere gave evasive answers to their questions and denied charges that he gave a contract to kill his former colleague Sunil  Heggaravalli. On Sunday, Belagere was again taken to Victoria Hospital for check-up after his health deteriorated. There was, however, some drama as Belagere refused to get into the vehicle — even placing his foot to block the sliding door-until cigarettes were given to him. In Victoria Hospital, Ravi Belagere was taken in a wheelchair to the treatment room, when he injured his toes as the wheelchair brushed his dropped down foot. Police sources further said that the interrogation has revealed little with Belagere remaining reserved. When questioned about his acquaintance with hitman Shashidhar Ramachandra Mundewadi, he replied defiantly that being in contact with someone with criminal cases was not a crime. The sources further said that Belagere had to be taken to Victoria Hospital several times due to his illness, shrinking the time available for CCB sleuths to get any relevant information out of him to make a headway. Meanwhile, Belagere’s four-day Police custody ends on Monday. “Belagere will be produced before the Court on Monday and we may seek extension of his custody for a few more days to gather enough information,” according to a Police officer, who is investigating the case. Even as the Police may seek extension of Police custody of Ravi Belagere, a team of Policeman from Bengaluru is camping at Sindagi taluk in Vijayapura district, looking for Viju Badiger, who is reported to have escorted hitman Shashidhar Mundewadi to meet Belagere at his office.
