Mysuru: The Sixth District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to rigorous imprisonment despite prime witnesses in the case turning hostile. But the Public Prosecutor and the Judge, after continuing the cross examination, found the accused guilty of the crime and the Judge sentenced the accused to 10 years rigorous imprisonment besides slapping him with a fine of Rs.2 lakh. The case: In 2016, the accused, residing in Udayagiri Police limits, had raped his seven-year-old daughter and the victim along with her mother had lodged a complaint at Udayagiri Police Station on the same day. The then Udayagiri Inspector Santosh had registered a FIR, arrested the accused and had submitted the charge-sheet to the Court. The victim and her mother who had given witness during prosecution, turned hostile during enquiry at the Court and had said that no rape had occurred. When they were asked as to why they had given witness during prosecution, the mother-daughter duo told the Court that they had given the witness out of pressure. But Judge Jayashree, who took the issue seriously, went through other witnesses and based on it, continued the enquiry and based on the Medical Report, pronounced the judgment. Public Prosecutor Shivarudraswamy, argued for the Government.
