Prof. R. Indira, formerly Professor and Chair, Department of Sociology and Director of the International Centre at the University of Mysore, has been invited as a Visiting Professor by the Department of Sociology, University of Johannesburg in South Africa. During her two- week stay in the University, Prof. Indira will deliver lectures on contemporary themes of relevance to India and South Africa, such as the state of development in rural and forest-dependent indigenous communities and issues affecting higher education. She will also be meeting faculty, Master’s and Doctoral students and representatives of South African Sociological Association to share insights and initiate discussions regarding future linkages between South African and Indian Academia.
