Prof. M. Nagaraj (98), the first Vice-Chancellor of Gulbarga University (1980-84), passed away this morning at his residence in Jayanagar. He leaves behind two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral this evening at the burial ground near RMP Quarters in Kuvempunagar. Prof. Nagaraj had also served as the Principal of Yuvaraja’s College and Sahyadri College, Shivamogga. He was the Head of the Department of Botany at Bangalore University before he became the first VC of Gulbarga University. After his retirement, he was the Professor Emeritus in the Botany Department, University of Mysore (UoM).
