Bengaluru: The State Government on Friday raised the rate of sales tax on petrol and diesel to 32% and 21% respectively. Petrol will cost Rs.70.8 per litre while diesel will cost Rs.64.6 as the increase in the rates will come into immediate effect. The prices of petrol and diesel was Rs.69 and Rs.62.8 on Friday.
The Government cited revenue loss for the State due to the drop in crude oil prices in the international market as the reason for the increase in the rates.
