People warned against hiring white board vehicles

Transport Department, in a statement, has said that it has come to the Department’s notice that people are hiring light motor vehicles having white board as a contract carriage from private owners under the jurisdiction of District Regional Transport officer. There is no provision in law to use white Board private vehicles as a contract carriage and as such, white board vehicles will be seized if found to be hired without valid permit, during regular vehicle checking. Public is advised to use only vehicles having yellow board as contract carriage and not white board vehicles, according to a press release.
