Opposing Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement, State Sugarcane Growers Association would be staging a protest by blocking the Highway near APMC (Bandipalya) Circle at 11 am on Oct.25. Disclosing this to the media, farmer leader Attalli Devaraj said that the Union Government would be signing the agreement with Asian Pacific countries regarding RCEP on Nov.4 and added that the agricultural sector would be badly hit if India signs the RCEP agreement. He further said that the Governments of the 16 countries which are signing agreements with India give more subsidies to their farmers and the agricultural products produced by these countries would be sold in India without any tax, which would badly hit the Indian farmers and also agricultural labourers. Devaraj has urged agricultural labourers and farmers to participate in the protest in large numbers.
