Mysuru: Onam, the commemoration of the annual visit of Mahabali — the legendary king of Kerala — will be celebrated at the Infant Jesus Cathedral, Hinkal, on Sunday (Sept. 15). There will be Pookkalamalsaram (flower rangoli competition) at 6.45 am followed by the concelebrated Solemn Mass at 8.30 am. The winners of the Pookkalamalsaram will be awarded cash prizes and trophies.
The public function at 10.15 am will be inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Anish Chirayath, Principal, Santhom Public School, Mandya. Rev. Fr. Thomas Mangalathil, Parish Priest, will preside. The Emperor Mahabali will be accorded a reception during the function followed by the traditional cultural programmes of Kerala. There will be tug-of-war and other sports competitions at 11.30 am.
