No word from UGC on recognition: KSOU VC Prof. D. Shivalingaiah

Mysuru: Even as the two-week deadline set by the Karnataka High Court to the UGC (University Grants Commission), asking it to grant re-recognition to Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) for offering non-technical courses ended yesterday, the KSOU is yet to hear any word from the UGC on the matter. The High Court, while hearing a petition filled by KSOU seeking directions to the UGC for granting recognition to its courses, on Dec.12, had directed the UGC to grant recognition to KSOU  within two weeks. Speaking to SOM over phone from Mangaluru this morning, KSOU VC Prof. D. Shivalingaiah said that so far the KSOU has not received any communication from the UGC on granting re-recognition to the University to run non-technical courses. The KSOU Board of Management meeting is scheduled for Jan.3, during which the issue will be discussed in detail, he said and added that the KSOU will come up with the next course of action in accordance with the resolutions that will be passed at the Jan.3 meeting.
