Madikeri, June 3 (BS)- Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Wadiyar has clarified that, there is no proposal with the Ministry of Railways for now, over constructing any railway route through Kodagu district.
Yaduveer Wadiyar's assurance came, following a meeting with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, during which he brought to the latter's notice, the growing apprehension among Kodagu residents, about the possible railway line cutting through the district, known for its coffee cultivation.
Following the Minister's assurance, there is a sense of relief among Kodagu natives and environmentalists, who were earlier vary about losing the natural terrains to basic infrastructural facilities related to railway network.
However, Yaduveer stressed that, any future plans will be pursued only after taking all the stakeholders into confidence, after studying environmental impact, local conditions and developmental interests of the region.
Yaduveer Wadiyar appealed to the public not to believe in any rumours. Any developments concerning the region will be communicated in a transparent manner through appropriate channels.
