No pregnant lady was made to walk making way for CM: Mandya SP

Mandya: Mandya Superintendent of Police (SP) has denied the reports of the Police making a pregnant woman walk all the way to a hospital to make way for Chief Minister’s convoy to pass at Nagamangala on Nov.20. The CM was at Nagamangala on that day to inaugurate a series of  development programme. Addressing a press conference at her office yesterday, SP G. Radhika said that the reports were baseless and no such incident had taken place on the said date. Admitting that the Police had blocked one side of the busy B.M. Road (Bellur-Mandya Road) that connects Mysuru and Bengaluru for Chief Minister Siddharamaiah’s cavalcade to pass, the officer said that no ambulance came on the road that day. “Speedy investigation into the incident has revealed that no female patient was brought in an ambulance to any hospital on that day,” she said. When asked about the video that showed the woman walking with the support of her male relatives, she said, “Shankar from Konanur Village near Nagamangala had brought his wife Yeshoda to a hospital as she was suffering from some mental illness. He had boarded a bus and reached Mandya and he took an auto to take his wife to the hospital.” Continuing, the SP said that the auto reached the B.M. Road that was blocked for some time to enable the CM’s convoy to pass. As traffic was blocked, Shankar chose walk as the Government hospital was nearby. “This incident has also been confirmed to the Police by Shankar. Also, the Police were not told by anyone that an unwell woman was in the auto. This is just media creation,” she claimed. Supporting her line of argument, Radhika said that they had checked with hospitals and ambulance drivers and it was revealed that no ambulance carried any patient to Nagamangala that day. “Some persons made the video of Shankar’s wife walking to the hospital and uploaded the same on social media that led to false reports,” she claimed and denied that such an incident  had taken place.
