Belagavi: Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharana Prakash Patil has said that the department staff will be brought under a new pension scheme. Speaking at the Legislative Council during the Winter Session of the State Legislature at Suvarna Soudha here on Monday, Dr. Patil said a proposal on the new pension scheme for doctors and other staff of the Medical Education Department was sent to the State Finance Ministry. But the Ministry has opined that as Medical Institutions were autonomous institutions, the proposal cannot be implemented, he said. Admitting that the introduction of NTS pension scheme would be an additional burden on the Finance Department, the Minister said that however, the Medical Education Department would appeal the Finance Department to once again consider its proposal.
